Health, Nutrition, WASH and Social Protection

At Horn Edge Consulting, our integrated approach to Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Food Security underscores our commitment to improving the well-being and resilience of communities. We recognize that these sectors are deeply interconnected; addressing them holistically is essential to fostering sustainable development and ensuring healthier lives for vulnerable populations.

  • Health: Our health programming supports both system-level reforms and community-based service delivery. We work with governments, NGOs, and development partners to improve access to quality, equitable, and culturally appropriate healthcare services. Our interventions focus on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (MNCAH), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), communicable and non-communicable diseases, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and emergency health response.

  • Nutrition: HEC supports comprehensive nutrition programming aimed at preventing and reducing malnutrition in all its forms, with a strong focus on children under five, adolescents, pregnant and lactating women, and vulnerable populations. Our work spans policy support, program design, implementation, and evaluation of Nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
  • WASH: HEC designs and supports WASH interventions that improve access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and sustainable hygiene practices. Our work includes WASH assessments, infrastructure planning and rehabilitation, hygiene promotion, community-led total sanitation (CLTS), and institutional WASH in health Facilities and schools. We emphasize resilience-oriented WASH solutions that are climate-smart, community-managed and inclusive, with particular attention to gender, disability, and protection considerations.
  • Social Protection: Social Protection is central to our resilience and development mandate. HEC supports programs that enhance Social Protection access. We work across humanitarian, recovery, and development contexts to design, implement, monitor and evaluate Social Protection interventions such as, cash-based assistance (CBA)and development of Social safety nets.
